Video showing proof of concept for a camera that searches the interwebs for photos the moment you press the button. (via Digg)
Yes… but? And how is that not (at least pragmatically) random? And how would that even make a difference?
This is an interesting idea, I think - the seperation of camera and subject is a worthwhile endeavor. Or, it sounds like it should be, anyway. Sometimes projects like these sometimes strike me as style-heavy. Don’t get me wrong - I like random as much as anyone (check out my Camille Paglia Essay Generator) - but I’m not entirely sure that the manifestation of the concept is really that intriguing.
Maybe it just needs some improvements…
I would add a “pizza” button, so that once I chose to take a photograph, somewhere else in the world, randomly, a random person would have a piece of pizza appear in their hands. I would be a hero.
But seriously (or not) - what kind of functionality could be added to this device that would strengthen its concept?

That seemed like the most self absorded person talking about the device ever. The Youtube commentor said it perfectly when he wrote “`who the hell is that bitch? she should come here and suck my nob”
Besides that hilarious comment, the device has a certain interest. Image theft - or isit borrowing. Surely by taking a photo itself it would enter more into the spirit of the moment. More like sharing?
To pretend that it isn’t random is a joke. Its an organised random. Frankly would I care what someone else was looking at, at that 1/100th of a second. And if I did, why would its particualr time be anymore important than any other. I could see the interest if we could see images that were taken by people we knew. I don’t know if this is of any use to anyone. Seems like an idea for ideas sake!?
Man, I do want that thing she was holding AS A REAL CAMERA. Like with a lens that is hidden under that dark glass on the front, and on the back would be a flat touch screen. And there would just be one large red satisfying button on top. You could call it the Bangs Camera ™ in honor of the hairstyle of the woman who just might provide “nob suckage” to angry youtube commenters.
