Light at home, light at school

So… Tessa, Tony and I spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Boston with one of Tessa’s friends from NYU Law. We got to eat a gourmet Thanksgiving dinner (with shrimp, scallop and halibut Ceviche for an appetizer, which is amazing!) and saw a bit of the city and surrounding area. We went to Gloucester and Rockport and spent about 10 minutes on a beach while Tony ran free (or, more precisely, tried to run back to the parking lot where the car was, as it was about twenty degrees near the water). We also got to experience a high-school reunion of sorts, which was interesting and made me feel quite old.
In other news:
Bradley and Dara came down for poker night last week, and Dara succeeded in winning two tournaments. I want a rematch!
I’ve been working on a couple of new websites, etc. - links posted soon, as the artists really know what they’re doing. There is nothing better than having clients that make great work.
Only three more weeks of school in this semester! (I’m going to go take something for my heartburn right now.)
Tessa and I went to a friend’s potluck party last Saturday. She made some incredible baked beans (with a pound of bacon!) and I bought some Anchor Porter that I thought might compliment the food. The beer was very good (it’s been a while since I’ve had anything other than Stella Artois, Yuengling, or Brooklyn Lager) but the container was a secret dangerous weapon!
Because I didn’t see a bottle opener, I grabbed someone’s lighter and opened the bottle with it. I’ve used all sorts of things to open bottles of beer - keys, window ledges, countertops - and have never had the cap fly off with such force. My glasses now bear the scar of the high-speed encounter:

Now, I see a very faint, out of focus constellation of chipped lens with my left eye. Which is obviously better than not seeing out of my left eye at all! For once, I’m very thankful for having to wear glasses - they probably saved me from an eyepatch.
A first draft of a new piece. This is meant to be looped, and I’m pretty sure that it should be installed somehow in a room. (Or maybe under the stairs?)
The second version of a now (really) untitled video (but I have to call it something, so I’m calling it Walking even though that sounds dumb to me - any suggestions would be welcome). The first version is here, and all I did was remove the text and crop the images a bit. I’m still considering the sound, and whether or not it needs to be added.
This piece, along with a couple of photographs, recently made it to Kansas City for a show at Leedy Voulkos Art Center (which apparently has an extremely outdated website). Mr. Jake Gillespie was kind enough to invite me to participate, as well as transport my work down there. Thanks Jake!
