San jose state visit went well. Looked around the massive campus. 30,000 kids. The photo department is sepearted from all other fine arts, as usual. But aparently their media arts is much more experimental and arty than pratt’s.
Obviously no definate job options opening up yet, but they all seemed really hopeful and friendly. I just need to keep in touch and stay positive.
San francisco is sunny an warm and full if palm trees. Thankfully amanda seems to like the place so far.
the friedlander exhibit at sfmoma was incredible. His early work is fantastic. I got the book to show you the range. He seemed to be imitating himself in his recent work. I also picked up Henri Cartier bresson - the minds eye. Which I’ll read out here and then lend you.
Also saw an-my li, and gabriele basilico at sfmoma. Was less impressed by basilico than an-my le,a show called “small” war. The first group were images of reinactments of the Vietnam war as military training in 2002, and the second group was Iraq/Afghanistan military training camps in California. (all b&w)
There were too many images as usual but if you picked 20 of the best, they were an interesting set that examined the composed and staged elements of photography and the role of the photojournalistic image in the media.
Sorry about the delayed response….it is actually this upcoming friday. I think that I am also going to the Papageorge talk on Tuesday, if anyone wants to join.
Champion Beginner is written by Justin Kohmetscher, who currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, is midway through his MFA, and has a lot of fun with Tessa and Tony.

Thanks Bradley. Hickey is both lovable and despisable at the same time. Always interesting though.
Anyone want to go with us to the Crewdson opening next Friday?
Is that in two days? One of my good friends is opening a bar that night, so I was planning on filling up on food before I saddle up to the bar.
